Funtiq Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 2, 2025
Introduction
Welcome to Funtiq! We are committed to creating a safe, transparent, and engaging learning environment for your child. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and our educational application (collectively, the "Service").
Our philosophy is simple: you, the parent or guardian, are in control. We design our services with privacy at the forefront, adhering to strict data protection laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe. This policy is written in plain language to help you understand our practices and your rights.
Our Commitment to Children's Privacy
- Parental Control: We require a parent or guardian to create an account. You have the tools to manage your child's profile, review their progress, and control their personal information.
- Safe Environment: Our application is a closed ecosystem. It does not contain third-party advertising, external links, or social features that would allow children to share personal information publicly.
- Data Minimization: We collect only the information that is reasonably necessary to provide and improve our educational service, personalize your child's learning, and communicate progress to you.
Information We Collect
1. Information Collected from Parents or Guardians
- Account Information: Your first and last name, email address, and a password to secure your account.
- Billing Information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor will collect payment information (like a credit card number) to complete the transaction. Funtiq does not store this information directly.
- Child Profile Information: You will provide basic information to create a profile for your child, including a first name or nickname and their age or birth year. This allows us to personalize the learning experience.
2. Information Collected from a Child's Use of the App
- Usage and Progress Data: This includes the activities your child completes, their performance on games and puzzles, skills they are developing, and time spent on different learning areas. This data is essential for our adaptive learning system and for providing you with progress reports.
- Device Information: We collect a device identifier, IP address (used to determine general location, not a specific address), device type, and operating system. This information is used for internal operations, such as providing technical support and ensuring the app functions correctly.
3. Information We DO NOT Collect from Children
- Full name, home address, email address, or phone number.
- Photos, videos, or audio files containing a child's image or voice.
- Precise geolocation information.
- Biometric or health data.
How We Use Your Information
- To Provide and Personalize the Service: We use your child's profile information and usage data to tailor their learning path, adjusting the difficulty and content to match their individual pace and style.
- To Power the Intelligent Parent Dashboard: The core of the Funtiq experience for parents is our dashboard. We use data analytics to transform your child's raw usage data into meaningful, qualitative insights about their learning journey, identify emerging strengths, and provide you with actionable suggestions for offline activities.
- To Communicate with You: We use your email address to send you information about your account, your child's progress reports, and updates about our Service. You can opt out of promotional emails at any time.
- To Improve Our Service: We analyze aggregated and anonymized data to understand usage trends, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the overall educational experience.
- For Safety and Security: We use information to protect the security and integrity of our Service and to enforce our Terms of Service.
How We Share Your Information
- With Service Providers: We work with trusted third-party companies that provide services such as hosting, data analysis, and customer support. These providers are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of the data and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or court order, or to protect the safety and rights of Funtiq, our users, or the public.
- In a Business Transfer: If Funtiq is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in control.
- Aggregated or Anonymized Data: We may share aggregated or anonymized data that does not personally identify you or your child for research or marketing purposes.
Your Rights and Controls (COPPA & GDPR)
- Verifiable Parental Consent: We require your verifiable consent before collecting any personal information from your child. You provide this consent during the sign-up process.
- Access, Update, and Delete Information: You can review, update, or delete the personal information associated with your child's profile at any time through your account settings in the Parent Dashboard. You can also request deletion by contacting us directly.
- Refuse Further Collection: You have the right to refuse to permit the further collection or use of your child's information. Please note that this may limit your child's ability to use the Service.
To exercise any of these rights, please log in to your Parent Dashboard or contact us at [email protected].
Data Security and Retention
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction. This includes using encryption for data in transit and at rest.
We retain personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. When an account is deleted, we will securely delete all associated personal information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide you with prominent notice, such as by sending an email to the address associated with your account or by posting a notice within our Service.
